De hedendaagse jeugd in de steden wordt al te vaak bekeken als een hardnekkig probleem. De verjonging, verarming en verbreding worden vandaag enkel als struikelblok gezien i.p.v. hierin te investeren met visie, ambitie, lef en leiderschap. Dat is precies wat de auteur wil doen: in haar boek pleit ze voor een andere kijk op de stedelijke jeugd. Centraal staat de kracht van jongeren: dit is dé sleutel voor de toekomst. De nieuwe generatie wordt aangespoord om in actie te komen en niet af te wachten, om de betreden paden te verlaten en met veel goesting de regie van onze samenleving en hun eigen leven in handen te nemen.
